2nd Annual Old York Antiques Show: September 12-13

The second annual antiques show at the Museums of Old York will take place September 12-13, 2008. The event will feature 20 of America's top antiques dealers. The Antiques Show will highlight exceptional silver and brass, furniture, paintings, ceramics, jewelry, oriental rugs and art, nautical items, textiles, folk and decorative art, prints and books. Proceeds from the show support the museum’s education, outreach and curatorial programs, which serve over 20,000 children and families each year. The Old York Antiques Show will take place at the Remick Barn, 3 Lindsay Road in York Village and runs Saturday, September 12, and Sunday, September 13, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The $10 admission includes a two-day ticket to experience the Museums of Old York. Free parking is available on-site.

Preview Party: September 11

The Old York Antiques Show will begin with an elegant preview party on Friday, September 11, 2008, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Guests will have an exclusive preview of dealer booths and the first opportunity to purchase antiques while enjoying hors d’oeuvres, cocktails and live music. Tickets for the preview party are $75 and include admission to the Antiques Show on Saturday and Sunday. Patrons who donate $250 will receive two tickets to the event, be recognized at the event and invited to a special reception to honor our dealers. Connoisseur's Tour: Decorative Arts

Elizabeth Bishop Perkins HouseThe Elizabeth Perkins house stands as one of the most complete and finest surviving examples of colonial revival architecture and interior design in the Piscataqua Region. Its gabled outline, elegant grounds and prominent site along the York River at the end of the 18th century Sewall's Bridge combine to make it one of York's most prominent and endearing historic landmarks. Join us Saturday, September 12th from 2:00 ~ 3:30 at the Elizabeth Bishop Perkins House for a special connoisseur's tour. Admission to this special tour is included as a part of the 2nd Annual Old York Antiques Show.

Connoisseur's Tour: Furniture of Southern Maine

Emerson-Wilcox houseOver the more than two hundred and fifty years of its history, the Emerson-Wilcox House has served as a general store, stage tavern, tailor shop, post office, home, and museum. A wonderful example of vernacular Georgian architecture of the Piscataqua River region of southern Maine, the Emerson-Wilcox House is furnished with the finest examples of the Museum's collection of 17th, 18th , and early 19th century regional furniture. Join us Saturday, September 12th from 11:00 ~ 12:30 at the Emerson-Wilcox House for a special connoisseur's tour. Admission to this special tour is included as part of the 2nd Annual Old York Antiques Show.

Directions to the Old York Antiques Show: From I-95, take exit 7 following the spur road and turning right onto U.S. Route 1 South. At the first light, turn left onto York Street (Route 1A). Proceed approximately .7 miles, and turn right onto Lindsay Road. Free, off-street parking is available in a lot immediately adjacent to the museum's Visitor Center.
